(MountEverest.net) British Duncan Williams (32), Swedes Daniel Carlsson (27) and Mikael Forsberg (41), plus three Sherpas are missing on Ama Dablam after being hit by an avalanche, according to Reuters.
Nepal authorities reported the climbers were buried while sleeping in C3 on Monday night.
A helicopter searched the area and the pilots reported on having seen remains of clothing, but no trace of the missing climbers.
Located at the upper Khumbu valley, above Thiangboche, Ama Dablam, “tThe Goddess’ Necklace” is among the most frequently photographed peaks in Nepal, and also a favorite among climbers due to its elegant shape. The normal route climbs along the SW ridge, on mixed terrain. The peak’s reported altitude varies, depending on the source, from 6812 to 6828m.
