Everest 2006: Should you see a rowdy group with an Irish flag...
Posted: Feb 27, 2006 07:48 pm EST
We don't usually update on treks, but, well here goes:
"Hi. We may not be going to the summit, but we would like everyone to know that ten members of the Blackrock Hillwalking Club from Cork in Ireland are trekking to base camp at the end of March 2006. The significance of this, is that among our friends are Pat Falvey who summited from both the North and South side, Clare O'Leary, the first Irish woman to summit, Samantha O Carroll also from Cork who summited soon after during the same season, Mick Murphy who also reached the top, another Cork man, and Ger Mc Donnelll an adopted Cork man, all of whom reached the top in either 2003 or 2004."
"So, wish us luck on our trek, and if you see a rowdy group with an Irish flag heading off from Lukla around the 29th of March next you are welcome to join us, especially at Namche on the way back down when we plan to have a major party. Put the word out, all are welcome !! Regards, Michael Grainger."
