Karakoram update from Iran: Kazem in C3 on K2 summit push

(K2Climb.net) Word arrived yesterday from Iran about their latest. Minoo Zabetian, blogging for the oldest and biggest Alpine club in Iran reports:
"Independent Iranian climber Kazem Faridian, who succeed to reach the foresummit of Broad Peak in 2005, is going for K2 this summer. Based on latest news, he is in C3 now."
Broad Peak
"Another Iranian climber, Mahdi Etemadfar, made a hard attempt for the summit together with Swiss climbers, but had to turn back 200 meters below the top due to rough weather. The climbers of our national team are now in Broad Peak BC and according to the latest news they have set up first camp."
"Hossin Nazar tried to solo Broad Peak this summer but was forced back due to weather- and time constraints."

Kazem Faridian is attempting K2 this summer. Auob Aminoroayaei is leading a large Iranian team on Broad Peak, including female climber Leyla Roshanzamir. The International Poril expedition, including Swedish, Danish, Georgian, Iranian, Polish and Spanish climbers is attempting GI and GII.
