(K2Climb.net) North Pole is full throttle (skiers hit the ice yesterday); the Himalaya season is just around the corner (Joao Garcia landed in Nepal today) and now also Karakoram are gearing up.

Here go some of the interesting summer projects, courtesy of the teams and ExWeb's Karrar Haidri in Pakistan.

8000ers - big names and new routes ahead

Austrian Gerfried Göschl will lead a strong group for Nanga Parbat and K2. Check members on Ger's blog.

Gerfried hopes to climb a new route on Nanga's North-West face together with friends Günther Unterberger, Hans Goger and Louis Rousseau. Also K2 will hopefully get a new line; Gerfried, Louis Rousseau and Jorge Egocheaga will give it a shot if conditions allow.

A 6-member Swiss team led by Frederic Roux will attempt Broad Peak and K2.
A 10-member Japanese team led by Hosaka Akinori will attempt K2.
A 7-member Croatian team led by Lober Dakovic will attempt Broad Peak.
A 5-member Spanish team lead by Javier Gorospe Chacon will attempt Gasherbrum II.

Spires

A 6-member South Korean team led by Kim Se Joon will attempt Latok 1.
A 5-member Canadian/US team led by Raphael Slawinski will attempt Pumari Chhish East.
A 6-member Japanese team (Fukuoka Climbing Club) led by Yonezawa Hiroo will attempt Spantik.
A 6-member Swiss team led by Mirco Stalder will attempt K7.

In addition to continuing cut climbing fees; the Alpine Club of Pakistan cleaned Baltoro last year. With the next climbing- and trekking season coming up, the Club asks that all mountaineers and trekkers leave the area as neat as they find it. Please check guidelines in the links section.
