Himalaya wrap-up: quick summary of brewing summit pushes

Posted: Oct 09, 2009 12:11 pm EDT
(MountEverest.net) Stay tuned for this weekend's special - a comprehensive review of the new, rugged Thuraya - coming up today.

Meanwhile, here a quick heads-up on planned summit pushes.

Edurne & Co (Shisha south face, British route) are setting off from BC on Sunday. The plan is to spend the night at the Scott Bivouac (6,200m) and shoot for a Wednesday summit.

Nick Rice and crew (Shisha North side) are also headed up on Sunday, hoping to top-out on Wednesday/Thursday.

On Dhaula, Italians Cala and Ivo are departing towards C1 tomorrow (not clear yet whether they are on a summit push or not).

AC's team on Cho Oyu is heading to C1 tomorrow, hoping to attempt the summit on Oct 13th/14th.

No change reported on Everest and Annapurna.

(Editor's note on yesterday's wrap-up: the Chilean Manaslu summiteer was not Michael, but Alex Koller. The story has been corrected.)
