British David Sharp lost on Everest

(MountEverest.net) World media has published the name of the British climber lost on Everest. David Sharp, a 34-year-old from Guisborough, Cleveland, died on the North side of the mountain while attempting the summit, according to the New Kerala. Sharp was using Asian Trekking Logistics and reportedly climbed on O2, but he had hired no Sherpas to climb with him.

The sad news was confirmed yesterday by Brazilian climber Vitor Negrete, also member in Asian Trekking international team, comprised by 13 members climbing independently.

Date and cause of death unclear

Speaking to IANS agency, Assian Trekking staff culd not confirm the exact date, neither the cause of death. It is also unlear if Sharp had reached the summit. Reports from other climbers are expected to provide with further details.

Sharp’s is the 6th casualty in the Everest area this year. Previously, three Sherpas died in the Everest icefall, another Sherpa died of HAPE on the North side and a Czech climber fell to his death on the Lhotse wall.

Not far away from Everest, an Italian climber fell to death on Jasemba (Pasang Lamu Chuli) last week.
