Progress on Everest - Ropes have fixed to 7790m on the North side and Camp 4, 8000m on the South side. Several climbers on the South side this past week have or are planning on heading down the Khumbu valley for some recovery and re-energizing in the thicker air. Video from the North Pole - Ben Saunders sent back the first live video clips from the North Pole this past week. Dave, Adam, and Geoff of the North Pole challenge made the Pole as well. Pen Hadow is currently trucking along in the lonesome and ghostly terrain on his solo, unsupported bid for the Pole and is at the 86th degree as of April 22nd. Skiers almost at check point 3 in the Polar race - Initial Style Explorers will hopefully reach checkpoint 3 tomorrow, followed by Polar Team and Extreme Steps. ViP3 is getting stronger but still tailing behind. Checkpoint 3 is the last stop off before the end of the race at the Magnetic North Pole. Dispatches direct from Camp I, 6100m - The Adventure Consultants South Side Everest team have been the first to send back dispatches with pictures and video directly from Camp I to the Internet with the use of a PDA and Contact 2.0 software. Ocean Rowing update - Simon Chalk has some company on the Indian Ocean. The UK duo Rob Abernethy and Mike Noel-Smith have started their Indian Ocean row and getting into the groove of things.
