Netia Winter K2 expedition is called off - On the summit bid, one of the climbers fell ill, most likely with cerebral edema. All three descended down K2 and into thicker air safely. Soon thereafter expedition leader Krzysztof Wielicki called the expedition off. Al Filo Winter Broad Peak: The team has been holed up in base camp with bad weather, but they have not given up hope yet on going for the summit alpine style. The official Everest base camp clinic website will launch tomorrow, March 3rd. Everest Peace Project postponed until fall 2003 in hopes of garnering even further support and increased media attention for their mission of peace. Peak fees slashed again in Pakistan: The government just announced this week that all peaks below 6500 meters are royalty-free. Ocean Rowing update: For the first time ever in ocean rowing history there are three ocean rowers out on three different oceans at the same time - The Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian. Also, After 56 days 13 hours and 9 minutes French rower Anne Quémére finished her solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.
