(ThePoles.com) "I'm afraid that the funding for the Journey South 2007 has definitely fallen through, Alex reported to ExWeb yesterday. "We are now rebranding for a northern trip in the new year."

When Everest throws boulders and you still want the summit there's just one thing to do - climb above the gravel line. The team has announced they now plan to go higher; that is north to attempt an unsupported North Pole crossing against the wicked drift from Greenland. Stay tuned...

Briton Alex Hibbert, 21, has a varied experience, including a completion of the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster Kayak Ultra-Marathon at the age of only 15. Alex passed preliminary tests for Royal Marines Commandos at age 16. He will be retested for entry in Autumn 2008.

Also in the team are Richard Smith, 36 (a cancer survivor), Adam Griffiths,24, and recent Everest summiteer Andy Wilkinson, 31.
