This fall, NASA plans to sell off the shuttle fleet at $28.8 million apiece NYT reports. The trouble is that you won't be able to do much with it. The shuttle is only built for space station altitude, and getting it ready for a surprise visit there will set you back one billion. NYT writes that about 20 inquiries have been made so far, mostly by museums and schools. "The Discovery is already promised to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
