2006 Pakistan List of Summiteers

Posted: Oct 13, 2006 05:26 am EDT

(K2climb.net) Pakistan's 2006 summer climbing season has finally ended. Out of 88 expeditions attempting 22 peaks, 40 expeditions have succeeded in putting 199 climbers on the summit of 8 Peaks. However if you remove the summits on Broad Peak (21) G2 (126) and Spantik (30) - the result shows that Pakistan mountains are anything but easy: 177 summits on these 3 peaks alone leave only 22 victories on the remaining 19 peaks attempted past summer.

8 climbers perished: One on Broad Peak and one on Spantik (on 51 summits) with the remaining 6 on K2 and Nanga Parbat (on 8 summits). No more expeditions are climbing in Pakistan. A Polish Nanga Parbat winter attempt is however coming up in December.

Yesterday we published an overview of the past Pakistan summer 2006 season with tabulated summit results for the various peaks. Today a detailed list of the expeditions and summiteers.

Here are the Results of Mountaineering Expedition in Pakistan During 2006, courtesy of Karrar Haidri and Mr. Saad Tariq Siddiqi, Secretary of Alpine Club Pakistan.
