(Newsdesk) It's the last hurrah for summer before buckling down and getting back to work, school or ... Himalaya! Labor Day come and gone, here goes the fall's list of mountaineering expeditions.

Record senior climber Carlos Soria is headed to Dhaulagiri, instead of Kangchenjunga as originally planned. At the ripe age of 73, the Spaniard has summited 11 of the fourteen 8000ers. An attempt on Annapurna was aborted earlier this spring for extreme risk of avalanche.

Mexican Himalaya staple "Yuri and Laura" (Yuri Contreras (MD) and Laura González) are headed for Makalu. Yuri has 4 Everest summits to his other 8000ers (Cho Oyu, Manaslu, Lhotse and Shisha central).

Among other interesting profiles and events: a Polish team for Lhotse; Polar ace explorer/mountaineer Ryan Water leading up Manaslu; Indian kid climber Arjun also on Manaslu, and Sophie Denis for Shishapangma.

There are commercial outfits to most peaks, although the situation is unclear for climbing on Cho Oyu, restricted for the Tibetan refugees fleeing over a pass close to BC, right under the nose of Chinese soldiers and before the eyes of international mountaineers.

Please give Newsdesk a shout if you or someone you know is not on the list. Godspeed climbers!
