(Newsdesk) More Polish climbers are heading to the Himalayas. Polish 8000m lady climber, Kinga Baranowska, and Rafal Fronia are heading to Makalu in two days. Fellow Pole, Paweł Michalski, and his Italian team mate, Simone la Terra are already in Kathmandu.
On April 5th Kinga Baranowska (with 8 eight-thousand meters peaks under her belt, all without supplemental oxygen) and Rafal Fronia (who scaled Gasherbrum II and a bold attempt on Winter Broad Peak) are heading for Makalu (8481m), no supplemental oxygen, on the normal northwest ridge route, reported ExplorersWeb contributor Jan Komorowski from Poland.
Makalu is the 5th highest mountain in the world.
Kinga Baranowska summited:
2003 – Cho Oyu (8201 m)
2006 – Broad Peak (8048 m)
2007 – Nanga Parbat (8125 m)
2008 – Dhaulagiri (8167 m) - first Polish woman
2008 – Manaslu (8156 m) - first Polish woman
2009 – Kanczendzonga (8598 m) - first Polish woman
2010 – Annapurna (8091 m)
2012 - Lhotse (8516 m)
Rafal Fronia participated in seven expeditions to the Himalayas and the Karakoram, including a winter expedition to Broad Peak. Summited Gasherbrum II (8035 m). He also climbed in the Andes, the Caucasus, the Alps, Pamir Mountains, and the mountains of Africa.
Paweł Michalski is already in Kathmandu along with Simone la Terra (from Italy); they are heading for Dhaulagiri (8167m), says Jan.
They have done three expeditions together, writes Pawel on his website. Depending on the conditions they will climb one of the routes on the north side.
