(Newsdesk) RussianClimb sent over news to ExplorersWeb that two Russian climbers died from HAPE on Ama Dablam (6812 m). Leader of the Magnitigirsk mountaineering club; Snow Leopard Victor Igolkin (62) was a celebrated mountaineering guide and Master of Sports in Russia. Pavel Ivanovsky was a journalist. The two perished in camp at about 5000 meters last week.
And some heartening news for Ukraine: Odessa Alpine Club climbed a new route on Lobuche East in an 8-day ascent. The unexpectedly hard climb took three nights on the wall with descent in no visibility and heavy snowfall. Named "Two arrows flight" the route is 6A Russian grade, with 700 m altitude difference and average steepness 70 degrees. Rock climbing difficulty till 6B, A3.
