Winter 8000ers: AdventureStats update

(AdventureStats) The Polish took back the winter throne this morning and with that new names have been added to AdventureStats.

Note that by definition a winter summit labels an expedition that started during autumn and summited in winter. A winter climb starts and ends within calendar winter (December 21 through March 21).

Some fast notes from the stats:

Seven 8000ers have been climbed during winter: Everest, Cho Oyu, Annapurna, Shisha Pangma, Makalu, Gasherbrum I and now Gasherbrum II.

11 of these summits were made by Poles, 8 were done by Spaniards (all on Cho Oyu), 3 were Italian and 2 were Kazakh. Only one woman has climbed an 8000er during winter.

Italian Simone Moro has achieved 3 winter climbs. Kazakh Denis Urubko and the late Polish Jerzy Kukuczka have 2 each.

Many of the eighties' winter summits were partial autumn climbs. Polish Jerzy Kukuczka has 3 winter summits and Polish Krzysztof Wielicki has 2.

Note that in Nepal, Kangchenjunga and Lhotse still remain to be fully winter climbed.
